Project Management Concepts - The Strategic Angle

Overview

In a competitive world, project management provides the means to focus on the delivery of effective benefits, rather on the diverse technical skills.  The delivery of the product, rather than the performance of the job, is the centre of attention.

Traditional organisations tend to focus on functional skills, which can become locked in functional ‘silos’.  Project management, by cutting across these ‘silos’, can liberate the creativity of skilled professionals and direct their diverse energies to the delivery of a single result.

Technical excellence is the bedrock of innovation, quality and professional advancement.  These must not be lost in the dash for short term advantage.

A project management organisation is one where functional skills and expertise are focused through customer centred projects to achieve professional and technical goals for the organisation, its customers and staff.  A project management organisation advances through the delivery of a succession of successful projects.
